Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to be recognised as the safest national provider of mobility solutions, and with the highest level of driving standards. We do this by demonstrating positive safety leadership, engaging our employees to improve safety performance and sharing and implementing good practice.
Arriva group safety standards:
- robust safety management systems that not only comply with local legislation, but also meet our demanding Arriva internal safety and engineering standards
- Ensure that our employees undertake safety and professional training that develops their skills and promotes the highest levels of safety.
- Monitor safety throughout the business, from vehicle inspections and workshop safety checks, through to the Executive and health and safety committees.
- Audit and review our approach to safety at all levels to drive continuous improvement
- Share best practice in our safety networks across Europe and in both the bus and rail sectors.

In addition, Arriva Croatia strives to provide a healthy and safe working environment for its employees, contractors, customers, and all others affected by our activities.
These rules describe the requirements that Arriva will ensure contractors meet and comply with acceptable health and safety standards:

All individuals, employees, contractors, and subcontractors we engage must have the necessary training, qualification, and competence to perform all tasks safely and satisfactorily, without jeopardizing themselves, the client's staff, visitors, or any other person on Arriva Croatia's premises.

All work will be carried out safely and competently in accordance with regulations governing environmental protection, occupational health and safety, and fire protection. All equipment and materials used or supplied must comply with all applicable regulations and laws.

Before commencing work, approval, instructions, and work permits, if required, must be obtained.

Contractors must have an agreed local contact to enable regular reporting of progress and timely reporting of problems, incidents, and injuries.

Working under the influence of drugs affecting job performance, alcohol, or drugs is prohibited.

Individuals entering areas used by Arriva Croatia must wear a reflective vest before entering areas where vehicles are moving.

Before and during work, necessary safety measures must be taken at the workplace, and personal protective equipment must be used.

Handling equipment or machinery not in a safe working condition is not allowed.

During driving, it is mandatory to use a seat belt at all times, using mobile devices is prohibited, and speeding is not allowed. Driving should be adjusted to road conditions.

It is essential to stay away from hazardous zones/blind spots.

Everyone should be aware of moving parts, sharp edges, and harmful emissions.

Smoking is not allowed outside designated smoking areas.

It is strictly prohibited to move or remove any protective measures without permission from the supervisory personnel.
